Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at the Maryland School for the Deaf. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will provide speech, language, and auditory rehabilitation services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer language, speech, and auditory skill diagnostic evaluations
  • Conduct speech, language, and auditory skills development
  • Evaluate treatment and revise as necessary
  • Prepare and maintain necessary records and report on student services and progress
  • Participate in team and community meetings
  • Serve as an IEP team member and determine present levels of performance and establish goals specifically addressed to student needs
  • Use developmentally appropriate activities, various therapy materials, and assistive technology as needed
  • Adapt therapy strategies to facilitate student progress
  • Consult with other professional and nonprofessional personnel regarding student performance
  • Assist with training of classroom staff regarding amplification equipment and augmentative communication use
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of speech-language pathology
  • Evaluations and treatment should be conducted with the unique deaf and hard of hearing population in mind
  • Proficiency with or the ability to use a variety of computer programs and applications
  • Basic level sign language skills with a willingness to improve ASL skills to achieve fluency

  • Phonological Awareness
  • ABA experience
  • AAC experience
  • Feeding/Swallowing experience
