Job Summary:

IPG Photonics is seeking a highly skilled R&D Technician to join our team. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for assembling, aligning, and testing lasers and laser delivery systems according to engineering instructions and technical manuals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product/component level assembly
  • Optical alignment
  • Testing of optical and laser components
  • Wide range of assembly processes of precision opto-mechanical components including: soldering, adhesive bonding, UV Curing and mechanical assembly
  • Cleaning and inspecting optics
  • Cleaning and inspecting mechanical parts
  • Optical, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Repair
  • General cleaning and upkeep of work area to uphold cleanroom environment
  • Follow company laser safety practices

Requirements:
  • AS in Opto-Mechanical, Optics or Electronics preferred, or equivalent experience required
  • Must have 3 – 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers and laser beam profiling equipment preferred
  • Ability to work in required cleanroom dress, i.e., gloves, bonnets, frocks, shoe covers, etc.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
  • Proficient soldering skills
  • Ability to work with small parts under a microscope for extended periods
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and schematics
  • Must be organized, energetic, reliable, timely and detail oriented
  • Strong communication skills
  • Data entry skills
