Summit Medical Group is actively seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to enhance our practice. This is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in delivering exceptional eye care.

This role encompasses a variety of tasks including:

• Preparing patients for examinations by gathering medical history and conducting preliminary assessments.
• Setting up and maintaining examination and treatment areas.
• Conducting basic vision screenings and administering prescribed eye medications.
• Cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments.
• Assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures.
• Training new assistants and serving as a scribe during patient evaluations.

The ophthalmic technician will also:

• Collect ocular and systemic histories, accurately documenting visual acuity.
• Perform lensometry, refractometry, and various diagnostic tests.
• Engage with patients to establish rapport and ensure comfort.
• Document patient evaluations and pertinent ocular findings in compliance with established guidelines.
• Educate patients on medication administration and pre- and post-operative care.
• Assist in office procedures, ensuring proper consent is obtained and maintaining a clean environment.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with patients and colleagues.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: Previous experience in an ophthalmic setting is preferred but not required.
• Certification: Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT) is preferred.
