Position Overview:
Summit Medical Group is actively seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to enhance our practice. This is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in delivering exceptional eye care.
This role encompasses a variety of tasks including:
- Preparing patients for examinations by gathering medical history and conducting preliminary assessments.
- Setting up and maintaining examination and treatment areas.
- Conducting basic vision screenings and administering prescribed eye medications.
- Cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments.
- Assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures.
- Training new assistants and serving as a scribe during patient evaluations.
The ophthalmic technician will also:
- Collect ocular and systemic histories, accurately documenting visual acuity.
- Perform lensometry, refractometry, and various diagnostic tests.
- Engage with patients to establish rapport and ensure comfort.
- Document patient evaluations and pertinent ocular findings in compliance with established guidelines.
- Educate patients on medication administration and pre- and post-operative care.
- Assist in office procedures, ensuring proper consent is obtained and maintaining a clean environment.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with patients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Previous experience in an ophthalmic setting is preferred but not required.
- Certification: Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT) is preferred.
