Radiation Oncology Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse II to join our team at West Florida Radiation Therapy. As a key member of our radiation oncology department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services.
Job Summary:The Registered Nurse II will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence within our department.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician, ensuring accurate dosing and technique.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and report any adverse reactions or concerns to the physician.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, including scheduling appointments, procedures, and tests.
- Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting understanding of radiation therapy and its associated risks and benefits.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, including progress notes, medication administration records, and treatment plans.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, with a current RN license in the state of Florida.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in radiation oncology or a related field, with a strong understanding of radiation therapy principles and practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with the ability to obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
The Registered Nurse II will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to radiation therapy equipment and potential exposure to hazardous materials. The ability to lift and move patients, as well as stand for extended periods, is required.
