Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Clerk to join our team at Westchester Medical Center. As an Insurance Clerk, you will be responsible for processing and managing patient insurance claims, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and manage patient insurance claims, including initial billing, investigation, and reconciliation of problem claims
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient insurance information
  • Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals to resolve claims issues
  • Perform mathematical calculations using a computer to process claims
  • Use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, and database software to manage claims
Requirements
  • High school or equivalency diploma and four years of clerical experience, one year of which included the processing of patients' medical insurance claims as the primary function of the position
  • Satisfactory completion of 30 college credits may be substituted for the general experience at the rate of 30 credits per year
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with hospital billing procedures and medical terms
  • Ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, and database software
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
