Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Technician to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care and respond to patient needs in the Emergency Room.
  • Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Record intake and outputs as directed by medical staff.
  • Perform urinary catheterization and document procedures accordingly.
  • Set up areas for sterile procedures and document accordingly.
  • Perform minor orthopedic splinting under the direction of a physician assistant.
  • Document any skin breakdowns and notify RN.
  • Remove IV catheters and document procedures accordingly.
  • Transcribe, document, and transmit physician orders and other pertinent information.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Listing as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Prefer three to six months relevant experience and/or training.
Work Environment

This part-time position is employed by NC Health, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. The work schedule is day shift, with 24 hours per week. The salary range is $25.86 per hour (hiring range), with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity.
