Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary duties associated with the Janitor role:

  • Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Collect and dispose of waste and recycling materials.
  • Restock and sanitize washroom supplies.
  • Polish and clean furniture and fixtures.
  • Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors with appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Dust various surfaces including furniture, walls, and equipment.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water with appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Shampoo carpets and perform steam cleaning as necessary.
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors to maintain their appearance.
  • Repair minor damages to building interiors using commercial cleaning tools.
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as hanging items and replacing bulbs.
  • Follow safety protocols when using chemical cleaners and machinery.
  • Ensure building security by locking doors and monitoring appliance use.
  • Transport heavy items using hand trucks or other equipment.
  • Clear snow from outdoor areas using appropriate tools.
  • Report any major repair needs to management.
  • Order supplies and equipment necessary for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Prepare facilities for events by arranging furniture and decorations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment to minimize injury risks.
  • Keep accurate records of shift activities and documentation.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude while collaborating with team members.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Participate in mandatory training and safety meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Working Conditions

This position requires working in both office and outdoor environments, involving physical activities such as standing, walking, and handling cleaning equipment. The Janitor may be exposed to various weather conditions and cleaning chemicals.



Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Familiarity with standard cleaning practices and equipment.
  • Understanding of workplace safety and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to interpret cleaning product labels and instructions.
  • Competence in operating various cleaning machinery safely.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Effective planning and scheduling abilities.
