We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Snow Operations Specialist to join our Nordic Center Operations team at Middlebury College. As a key member of our winter operations team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and maintenance of our snowmaking equipment, trails, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of snowmaking equipment, including cutting and removing trees, mowing and clearing trails, and improving drainage and erosion issues.
- Operate snowmaking system, including receiving direction from supervisor, adjusting guns as needed, and performing routine maintenance and repairs.
- Test and communicate snow quality via radio, and relocate and set up various types of portable snowmaking equipment.
- Perform other operational duties of the Nordic facility as seen fit by the Director.
- General knowledge of machinery and mechanical skills, including understanding of air compressors, pumps, hydrants, valves, water lines, and other snowmaking system components.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist height and perform all duties outdoors for extended periods of time in harsh environments.
