We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team at the State of South Dakota. As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with electrical codes, laws, and regulations in various settings, including residential buildings, businesses, and construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect electrical installations and new construction to ensure compliance with electrical codes, laws, and regulations.
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate written reports documenting installation infractions and day-to-day activities.
- Ensure the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with licensees and the public.
- Communicate information tactfully, clearly, and concisely with licensees and the public.
- Submit required paperwork and electronic reports in a timely manner.
- Plan and organize work priorities.
- Inspect in other areas of the state on limited duration assignments.
- Interact positively with the general public.
- Drive for extended periods of time.
- Climb a ladder and navigate in tight spaces.
- Be flexible.
- Perform all duties documented and other duties as assigned.
- A valid driver's license.
- An electrical inspector license or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations affecting electrical installations.
- Computer hardware and software skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
- The National Electrical Code.
- Pertinent tools, equipment, and facilities.
