Position Overview: As a Senior Clinical Practitioner, you will oversee the management of both acute and chronic care patients through comprehensive preventive and primary care services. This role is based in a fixed clinic environment and incorporates telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and mobile health units to enhance patient care delivery.

Work Schedule: This position entails a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with scheduled work hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Patient Demographics: The focus will be on outpatient care, primarily serving adult patients, with the capability to provide limited pediatric care.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
  • Experience: A Master’s degree or higher in Nursing, specifically as a Family Nurse Practitioner, along with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in advanced practice nursing.
  • Preferred Qualifications: A Doctorate in Nursing Practice and advanced training in Diabetes Management, particularly in chronic disease management including diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and chronic kidney disease.

Supervision: The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse will work under the guidance of a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by the Medical University of South Carolina Health.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • All certifications must be valid and up-to-date prior to the commencement of the role:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of DHEC and DEA license applications must be initiated before the first day of employment.
  • Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDCES) or significant experience in diabetes management with a commitment to obtain certification within 12-18 months of hire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Evaluate and treat patients based on clinical assessments and diagnostic test results, adhering to practice agreements and scope of practice guidelines.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures as authorized by the Supervising/Collaborating Physician.
  • Initiate referrals to other healthcare professionals and consult with the collaborating physician as necessary.
  • Document and bill for services rendered.
  • Utilize current research and evidence-based practices in all clinical activities.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
  • Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities within the organization.
  • Participate in professional organizations and continuing education to maintain professional standards.
  • Mentor students from various health professions, including graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and continuing education as mandated by state law and organizational policies.

Physical Demands:

This role requires the ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Candidates must be capable of bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and reaching in all directions. Physical qualifications for respirator use are necessary, along with the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted.
