Scope of Position

The Surgical Tech Lead functions as an integral part of a collaborative team of care providers in the Operating Rooms of the Perioperative Services at OSUCCC-James. The team consists of the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Registered Nurse (RN), Surgical Technologist (ST), Student Surg Tech (SST), Anesthesia Technician, and Office Assistants. Together, they provide patient care and supportive services aimed at maximizing patient care outcomes, improving customer service levels, reducing hospitalization lengths, and decreasing costs.

Position Summary

The Surgical Tech Lead performs technical skills related to intraoperative patient care, including scrubbing in various surgical procedures and performing routine unit tasks. They provide emergency care measures as needed and assist in meeting patients' emotional needs. The Surgical Tech Lead follows universal precautions, safe handling guidelines, and all other infection control standards to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform technical skills related to intraoperative patient care

  • Perform routine unit tasks
  • Provide emergency care measures as needed
  • Assist in meeting patients' emotional needs
  • Follow universal precautions, safe handling guidelines, and all other infection control standards
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have completed a formal Surgical Technology Training Program. Certification is required, and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience is necessary.
