Job Title: American Sign Language Adjunct

Job Summary:

Germanna Community College, a public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System, seeks adjunct faculty members to teach American Sign Language (ASL) courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach ASL courses in a classroom environment
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse students
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Requirements:

  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the specific discipline
  • Official transcripts required prior to final offer
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems
  • Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment
  • Technology capability to teach remotely
  • Ability to teach in a variety of modalities, including virtually
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience
  • Work experience in the field
  • Substantial experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
