Job Title: GEAR UP Success Coach

Wonderful College Prep Academy is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated GEAR UP Success Coach to join our team. As a key member of our education support services team, you will play a vital role in helping our students achieve their academic and career goals.

Job Summary:

The GEAR UP Success Coach will work with 9th and 10th-grade students at Wonderful College Prep Academy in Lost Hills, providing academic advising, small group academic advising, mentoring, outreach, and support services. You will implement activities to improve students' knowledge and experience of different colleges and careers, encourage high academic achievement, and make frequent presentations to large groups of students.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide weekly 1:1 or small group academic advising to students, with a minimum of 15 student meetings per week.
  • Assess students' needs, set academic goals, and formulate a comprehensive plan for assistance in collaboration with students, parents, teachers, counselors, other agencies, and community partners.
  • Help support students in the classroom by providing workshops on goal setting, academic monitoring, career and college research, and readiness.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and/or guardians of students to discuss academic progress, obstacles, and needed efforts by students and parents.
  • Help increase family knowledge of career and college opportunities.
  • Participate in all meetings and events related to GEAR UP, including field trips, family workshops, and other activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two years' experience in education support services.
  • Commitment and passion for educational equity and justice, with a desire to work tirelessly on behalf of students from California's Central Valley.
  • Ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
