  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    • The Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, executing, and documenting patient care services. This role includes overseeing Assistants, Attendants, and students during treatment sessions. Therapists may focus on either an inpatient hospital environment or an outpatient clinic setting.
    • Inpatient Care Focus: The Inpatient Therapist will work in various acute care settings, including orthopedics, neuro/ICU, and rehabilitation. Responsibilities may involve rotations across these areas, with opportunities for specialization in stroke recovery, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, post-operative orthopedic care, wound management, and lymphedema. Additional training can be pursued in outpatient or home care settings as desired. Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the inpatient role.
    • Outpatient Care Focus: The Outpatient Therapist will be assigned to multiple outpatient clinics, catering to diverse patient demographics. There are chances to develop specialized skills in areas such as vestibular rehabilitation, temporomandibular disorders, pelvic health, women's health, lymphedema, and sports medicine. Training opportunities are also available in inpatient or home care settings. Weekend and holiday shifts in the inpatient environment are expected.
  • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess a current Physical Therapy License in the State of Minnesota.

  • SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
    • Proficient in wound care, joint mobilization, and soft tissue techniques; ability to connect with individuals across various ages and backgrounds; skilled in muscle strengthening and endurance training, with an understanding of cardiovascular responses to exercise.
    • READING: Intermediate level; capable of interpreting documents such as operational and maintenance guidelines.
    • WRITING: Intermediate level; able to compose routine reports and correspondence.
    • SPEAKING: Intermediate level; proficient in presenting information effectively in various settings.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic level; able to perform basic arithmetic operations and understand measurements.
    • REASONING ABILITY: Intermediate level; capable of applying common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.
    • AGE-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Knowledgeable in assessment and growth development, providing appropriate care for different patient age groups.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
      • Inpatient Physical Therapists: Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
      • Outpatient Physical Therapists: (included in Inpatient Hospital Weekend Rotation) must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
      • Outpatient Physical Therapists: (not included in Inpatient Hospital Weekend Rotation) must be able to lift thirty (30) pounds.
      • Continuous standing and walking for over 2 hours.
      • Frequent sitting for 1/3 to 2 hours.
      • Continuous use of hands for various tasks.
      • Continuous reaching with hands and arms.
      • Continuous bending and squatting.
      • Continuous communication abilities.
    • LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:
      • Up to 10 pounds - Continuous for over 2 hours.
      • Up to 25 pounds - Continuous for over 2 hours.
      • Up to 35 pounds - Frequent for 1/3 to 2 hours.
      • Up to 50 pounds - Occasional for under 1 hour.
    • WORK ENVIRONMENT:
      • Typical noise level is moderate (e.g., business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
