Your Responsibilities
Our Media Systems Engineering team operates within the Media and Projects Engineering (MPE) division at Epic Games. We are globally accountable for the design, integration, and upkeep of the media and audio-visual system infrastructure at Epic Games. This position primarily focuses on servicing and supporting content review areas, recording studios, editing suites, conferencing setups, broadcast streams, virtual production, and capture systems.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee integrated audio-visual systems, including hardware, software codecs, and control mechanisms.
- Deliver maintenance and support for conference and content review spaces.
- Provide daily site assistance at local Epic Games facilities and engineering support for MSE in collaboration with existing MSE resources.
- Diagnose system malfunctions and offer repair support.
- Respond promptly to emergency requests for professional and consumer audio-visual systems, as well as in-house developed technologies.
- Support events, including live sound reinforcement, videoconferencing, and content streaming.
- Organize and maintain engineering labs and storage areas.
- Offer general administrative support, asset management, data entry, and documentation updates.
- Manage the shipping and receiving of audio-visual equipment for inventory and repairs.
- Assist with daily support for the MPE team, including special projects and event technology as a local resource.
- Integrate new systems while ensuring compliance with enterprise-wide standards across Epic locations.
- Travel may be required as necessary, potentially for extended periods.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working on a technical team, with a strong focus on audio-visual support and integration.
- Proficiency in reading and creating signal flow diagrams, cable termination types, and compatible signal conversions in both video and audio.
- Solid understanding of video and audio signals, including sampling rates, frame rates, and frame resolutions.
- Experience with audio-visual systems such as Zoom, Dante, and Q-Sys.
- Exceptional troubleshooting abilities in real-time situations.
- Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating a friendly and patient demeanor.
- Adaptability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong administrative and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Capability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs).
- Preferred: Basic knowledge of tools such as voltage meters, soldering irons, crimping tools, RTA microphones/systems, and colorimeters; basic construction skills (e.g., wall mounting displays/projector mounts); basic networking experience.
