Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Join The Arc of Opportunity as a Direct Support Professional and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to provide light to medium maintenance and domestic functions associated with our residential programs. As a Direct Support Professional, you will work closely with individuals supported, families/guardians, peers, community partners, and government agencies to implement Individual Support Plans and promote a culture of excellence and respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement Individual Support Plans for individuals based on assessments, objectives, and goals
  • Provide light to medium maintenance/domestic functions associated with residential programs, including cleaning, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping, and grounds keeping duties as assigned
  • Assist with personal care needs of individuals supported, including transferring, changing, showering, and toileting
  • Work closely with Residential Managers and Assistant Residential Managers to deliver service standards of excellence and ensure operational compliance within assigned programs
  • Actively advocate for individuals served and demonstrate agency mission and values in all interpersonal and professional relations
  • Conduct oneself professionally by maintaining respect, following regulations and agency policies, and adhering to confidentiality requirements
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned and required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in substance abuse and/or mental health field preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Acceptable CORI/Finger printing and driving record required at all times during employment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., kneel, bend, and carry items, and sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting
  • Ability to physically assist individuals according to their needs and perform physical restraint if necessary
