We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor or Professor to join our team in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Virginia. This is a tenured or tenure-eligible faculty position with an endowed chair appointment negotiable.
About the PositionThe successful candidate will be appointed within the Department of Family Medicine to conduct scientific research and collaborate with other investigators on topics related to chronic disease prevention and health promotion. This individual will play a key role in expanding the department's research capacity and leading primary care and population health research.
Responsibilities- Conduct scientific research and collaborate with other investigators on topics related to chronic disease prevention and health promotion.
- Develop and lead research projects related to primary care and cancer prevention and control.
- Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders in an engaged research process.
- Pursue high standards related to research, clinical investigations, and service.
- PhD, MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree.
- Board Certification in Family Medicine if wishing to practice clinically.
- Sustained and presently active record of peer-reviewed Federal funding relevant to primary care and cancer prevention and control research.
- National and preferably international recognition as evidence by involvement in academic societies at a national level and participation in external peer review panels.
The Department of Family Medicine is a cohesive and dedicated group of 33 faculty, 1 Sports Medicine fellow, 24 resident physicians, and 13 advanced practice providers. We have six practices that provide a strong base for clinical education and research. Our research endeavors have focused on population health, chronic disease prevention, epidemiology, health disparities, and quality of care.
