Job Summary
The LSU Health Sciences Center seeks a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatics Analyst to provide comprehensive support for the Bioinformatics and Data Science Program and collaborative projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing broad bioinformatics and computational genomics support for the analysis, visualization, and interpretation of large-scale omics, next-generation sequence, genotype, methylation, proteomics, metabolomics, and other biological data.
- Developing algorithms, methods, technology, and bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis and integration of multi-scale, multi-platform omics data.
- Assisting with teaching and training students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Bioinformatics Analyst will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines for data analysis and integration.
- Developing and maintaining software tools and databases for data management and analysis.
- Collaborating with researchers and clinicians to identify and prioritize bioinformatics needs.
- Providing training and support for researchers and clinicians on bioinformatics tools and methods.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master's or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases, such as NCBI, Ensembl, or UCSC Genome Browser.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Working Conditions
The Senior Bioinformatics Analyst will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a team of researchers and clinicians. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
