Core Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Assist clergy from diverse faith backgrounds in conducting religious activities
- Ensure the safety of Chaplains during field operations and in combat situations
- Maintain accurate records and documents for various religious groups
- Manage and oversee religious ministry facilities both at sea and on land
- Help prepare devotional materials and religious educational resources
- Coordinate logistical support for religious programs across various Navy units
- Operate and maintain libraries while promoting the command's religious initiatives
- Work under the guidance of Navy Chaplains
Religious Program Specialists are essential wherever Chaplains are deployed. Your work may take place indoors, in the field, on military bases, in medical facilities, or in combat zones, allowing you to serve in diverse environments globally.
Training & Development
After completing initial training at Recruit Training Command, you will attend the Naval Chaplaincy School & Center for formal training, followed by Marine combat training. Opportunities for advancement are competitive and based on performance.
Post-Service Opportunities
The specialized training and experience gained in this role can lead to valuable credentials and career opportunities in related civilian fields.
Educational Benefits
Navy training in religious services can also translate into academic credit toward a degree, with options for further education through various Navy programs.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to type at least 30 words per minute. Flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate support for individuals of all faiths and maintain high ethical standards.
