Firefighter EMT Job Description

The City of Georgetown is seeking a highly skilled Firefighter EMT to join our team. As a Firefighter EMT, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, providing medical assistance, and protecting the lives and property of our citizens.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to fire alarms and other emergency calls in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide medical assistance to patients, including basic life support and emergency medical care.
  • Operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment, including fire trucks and rescue vehicles.
  • Work closely with other emergency responders, including police and ambulance personnel.
  • Participate in regular training and drills to maintain and improve skills.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
  • EVDT, Pump Ops I, Pump Ops II, and Aerial Ops certifications.
  • Hazmat Technician, ICS 100/200/700/800.
  • Valid SC EMT Certification.
Physical Demands:

The Firefighter EMT position requires the ability to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. The position also requires the ability to push, stoop, lift, pull, reach, kneel, climb, crouch, carry, or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking or standing for periods of time, and the ability to lift/carry weights of up to 80 pounds is required.

Mental Demands:

The Firefighter EMT position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent time pressures, multiple tasks simultaneously, and irregular schedules. The position also requires the ability to work closely with others as part of a team and to perform tedious or exacting work in a noisy/distracting environment.
