Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our pathology department by ensuring accurate specimen accessioning, obtaining pertinent clinical information, and verifying clinical information on requisition slips.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately accession and organize specimens, requisition slips, and cassettes
  • Describe gross anatomic features and dissect large, medium, and small specimens
  • Prepare and submit tissue for histologic processing
  • Obtain and submit specimens for additional analytic procedures
  • Photograph gross specimens
  • Work with Cryostat for Frozen sections and Voice Recognition system
  • Responsible for inventory, cataloging, ordering, and maintenance of lab supplies, equipment, and laboratory chemicals
  • Monitor refrigerator temperature and room temperature daily
  • Prepare quarterly quality assurance reports and monthly workload summary reports

Requirements
  • NYSDOH Pathology Assistant License
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification as a Pathologists Assistant
  • Malpractice Provided
  • Hourly: $65
