Switchman Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Switchman to join our team in Altoona, PA. As a Switchman, you will be responsible for operating locomotives and transporting railcars according to a switch list.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating locomotives to transport material and spot rail cars utilizing instructions from a switch list
  • Regularly operating locomotives in a congested area and using considerable caution to prevent damage to rail cars or accidents to employees
  • Maintaining area in a neat and orderly manner and reporting work hazards

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, as well as a valid driver's license. You should also be able to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision and be dependable and reliable for scheduled work shifts.

Work Environment
You will be exposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat, and moderate physical exertion is required. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions.
