Job Overview

Summit Design and Engineering Services is a leading provider of innovative engineering solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team.

As a Structural Engineer at Summit, you will be responsible for managing structural projects from inception to closeout. This includes preparing project-specific construction specifications, conducting site inspections, and ensuring conformance to engineering plans and construction standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop building systems, including hot-rolled steel, cold-formed steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Prepare project-specific construction specifications and construction administration documents
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with engineering plans and construction standards
  • Prepare opinions on costs and written reports
  • Assist in proposal generation and fee estimates
  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver high-quality engineering solutions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a ABET accredited university with a focus on Structural Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in Structural Engineering, preferably on a variety of project sizes and types
  • PE Licensure in NC or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Experience with Building Structural Engineering AutoCAD and REVIT software
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as RAM Steel, RAM Elements, RISA Platforms and ENERCALC
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, steel, concrete, masonry, and timber design desired
  • Knowledge of building codes, including application of ASCE-7
  • Ability to create, read, and interpret structural calculations and construction drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adhere to all deadlines, budgets, and contractual obligations of each project
