Position Summary:
Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental is in search of an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager. This role focuses on safety management within the crane and rigging sector, particularly in commercial construction, petrochemical, steel, wind farm, and heavy industry environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate independently on various projects in a dynamic setting. A bachelor's degree or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the crane and rigging field, along with certifications such as OSHA 30 and OSHA 500, is preferred. This is a full-time exempt role offering a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant crane and rigging regulations, codes, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards across branch locations and major heavy-industry job sites.
- Adhere to corporate policies to guarantee compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at company facilities and work sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections at work sites and facilities to evaluate operations, compliance, and identify potential hazards. Recommend corrective or preventive actions and prepare reports for corporate review.
- Analyze injury and accident reports to identify causal factors and implement follow-up actions to prevent recurrence. Develop site-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Facilitate regular safety meetings with management and staff.
- Implement established EH&S policies, procedures, and written communications.
- Understand DOT compliance and maintain driver files as necessary.
- Disseminate information regarding safety issues in a timely manner.
- Commit to personal and professional development through training and seminars to enhance knowledge in environmental health and safety, crane operations, rigging, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP).
- Maintain open communication with the corporate office through regular verbal and written updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience as a safety manager in the crane, rigging, or construction industries, particularly in heavy industry environments.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Possession of a valid Transportation Worker Identity Card (TWIC) or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and training capabilities.
- Experience in conducting accident investigations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
