This position requires an individual who can motivate, guide, and enhance team productivity to guarantee safe and effective facility management. You will oversee all facets of facility operations, including strategic planning, maintenance, staffing, training, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Direct the shredding, ferrous, and non-ferrous operations to ensure safe and efficient material processing.
  • Team Development: Lead and cultivate staff, including managing recruitment, disciplinary measures, and separations as necessary.
  • Client Engagement: Foster strong relationships with customers, including commercial clients and individual sellers. Assess and price scrap materials, and manage payment processes as required.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold adherence to company safety and environmental protocols. Ensure compliance with ISO and OSHA standards.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Supervise the upkeep of the facility and equipment, addressing replacement needs to maintain seamless operations.
  • Financial Oversight: Control costs and expenditures, striving to meet or surpass budgetary goals for yard volume, net profit, and return on investment (ROI). Prepare and oversee annual budgets and monthly operational reports.
  • Equipment Handling: Operate yard machinery and perform minor maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Carry out other duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in shredder operations, with a strong supervisory background is highly preferred.
  • Education: An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Accounting, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication abilities with a talent for building trust and rapport across all organizational levels, as well as with external vendors and clients.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally to other facilities or client locations. A valid driver's license is required.
