Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Automation Engineer to join our Site Services team at Genentech. As a key member of our Facility Systems & Plant Engineering (FSPE) team, you will provide technical support to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of automation systems owned and supported by Site Services at Genentech's South San Francisco and Dixon sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Technical System Owner (TSO) for various Building Automation platforms
  • Own and maintain a wide range of automation platforms, control systems, and system applications (GMP & non-GMP automation assets)
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of Building Automation Systems (BAS) using Siemens Desigo, ALC, and Aveeva PI technologies
  • Technical expertise in the integration and optimization of BAS components
  • Conduct system performance analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Provide essential system support in a 24x7 environment
  • Identify and resolve hardware and software application issues; run change control
  • Lead and maintain server infrastructure, including system patching, upgrade, backups, operating procedures, and system manuals
Requirements
  • Over 12 years of experience designing and supporting BAS specific automation systems in manufacturing or critical operations environments, with recent experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Windows Networking, OPC, BACnet, MODBUS)
  • Strong hands-on technical experience in the following areas: BAS (Siemens Desigo CC, BBMD configuration and ALC WebCTRL), Networks (BACnet, TCP/IP, OPC & Modbus), Data Systems (OSI PI Data Archive and Collectives, Asset Framework, OSI PI Connectors and SQL Database)
  • Understanding of cGMP regulations and Good Engineering Practices (GEP)
