Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary: The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, operating, servicing, and modifying various types of facility machinery, including abrasive blast systems and components such as compressors, electric motors, pumps, valves, and other mechanical elements. The objective is to maintain large equipment and systems at peak operational efficiency, promptly identifying and rectifying malfunctions to minimize downtime and ensuring maintenance is conducted with minimal disruption to production schedules. This entails disassembling, cleaning, lubricating, repairing, reassembling, and reinstalling parts like pumps, motors, controllers, and valves. A strong understanding of troubleshooting, aligning, adjusting, and repairing large industrial systems is essential, along with familiarity with the tools and equipment used in this field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and address issues affecting equipment, ensuring effective operation of systems that manage air circulation, heating, and cooling.
  • Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting and repair of industrial air conditioning units, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
  • Perform inspections and tests on heating and cooling systems to detect malfunctions and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks to prolong the lifespan of equipment and systems, including lubricating, replacing gaskets, and adjusting drive belts.
  • Maintain and repair structural and mechanical components of roll-up doors and overhead hoists, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Transport materials and tools to work sites using Federal Government vehicles, adhering to safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of parts and materials, ensuring all tools are maintained and stored appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with two years of training and/or experience in industrial maintenance, including one year in building systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds and work at heights.
  • Certifications: Must possess relevant certifications, including CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate.
  • Post-Offer Requirements: Valid Driver's License and ability to qualify for a military driver's license.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a condition of employment.

Additional Information: The incumbent may be subject to occasional recall for emergency work and overnight travel. Strong judgment is required to determine cost-effective methods and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
