About the Role

Chestnut Ridge Church is seeking a part-time Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our church facilities, grounds, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an ambassador for Chestnut Ridge Church by positively reflecting our vision, mission, and values to those inside and outside our walls.
  • Conduct scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, and annual facility operations, including maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.
  • Report major facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance problems to the Facilities Director.
  • Maintain and update electrical, plumbing, fire/sprinkler systems, carpentry, drywall, painting, roofing, and HVAC repairs throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a familiarity with emergency operations and life safety procedures for the facilities.
  • Assist contracted companies with repairs on site as needed.
  • Perform general cleaning, event setup, and tear down in areas across the facility as needed.
  • Maintain outside landscaping, church entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas, including mowing, trimming, mulching, and tree/shrub pruning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED minimum.
  • Experience working as a contractor, electrician, plumber, carpenter, or similar trade.
  • Ability to read and comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Strong common sense and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Google Calendar, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Ability to safely make regular trips to hardware stores or supply warehouses for parts.
  • Works well with others, including volunteers or other less experienced staff members, to help with different projects as they arise.
  • Willingness to learn or expand one's own skillset to help meet the needs of the church.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Chestnut Ridge Church is a plus.
Working Conditions

The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
