Job Title: Retail Facilities/Janitorial Associate-Part Time

At Ocean State Job Lot, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Retail Facilities/Janitorial Associate-Part Time to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional store environment, ensuring a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Safety: Identify and correct maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store, ensuring the well-being of associates and customers.
  • Floor Care: Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and generally maintain floors, steps, and other similar surfaces.
  • Waste Management: Empty waste containers and pick up and dispose of interior trash, litter, and other similar debris.
  • Supply Management: Check and maintain adequate bathroom, breakroom, and other supplies needed in the normal use of the building.
  • Exterior Maintenance: Maintain approaches to buildings by keeping them clear of debris, snow, and other obstructions.
  • Store Appearance: Ensure all work areas, storage areas, and materials are safe, clean, and orderly, and that all cleaning supplies are clearly labeled and stored.
  • Customer Service: Ensure all OSJL customers receive exceptional service both on the sales floor and at the point of sale.
  • Merchandising Support: Assist with merchandising tasks, including stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed.
  • Property Protection: Perform all duties with a focus on safeguarding Company property.
  • Communication: Communicate any issues to store leadership in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Prior facilities experience is required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a retail environment or in customer service is preferred.
  • Skills: Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred.

This is a part-time opportunity that requires extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and/or positioning oneself to complete various tasks throughout the shift.
