RailWorks is seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our team as a Track Maintenance Specialist. As a key member of our field operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of railroad tracks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and prepare construction work sites to eliminate potential hazards
  • Attach rail, remove spikes, lift and handle railroad crossties
  • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications
  • Position, join, align, and seal structural components
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 0-2 years of relevant construction experience
  • Willing to work various shift schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel to various project and work sites as needed
  • Experience with machines and tools used in construction, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to work as a team to carry out assigned tasks
Working Conditions

This role requires working outdoors at railroad construction sites in all weather conditions, including very hot and cold weather. You must be capable of walking long distances on uneven or rough terrain and lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 pounds.
