Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Blood Product Storage and Distribution Specialist to join our team at the American Red Cross. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient storage, processing, and distribution of blood products to hospitals and medical facilities across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Management: Receive, process, pack, and ship blood products and samples to meet hospital orders, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate physical and electronic records of blood products, including inventory levels, expiration dates, and product disposition.
  • Communication: Collaborate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors to resolve issues, answer questions, and provide updates on product availability and shipping status.
  • Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and analyze data to identify and quarantine products that do not meet quality requirements, and perform disposition of unacceptable product.
  • Logistics: Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements, and perform data entry associated with further manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; two years' experience in a regulatory, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Skills: Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills required.
  • Physical Demands: Requires standing, stretching, stooping, and bending for extended periods; lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds; may work in walk-in refrigerators/freezers for periods of time.
