We are seeking a highly skilled Nursing Instructor Oncology Clinical Research to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for the orientation, continuing education, staff development, and continuous process improvement of clinical research nursing staff, team members, patients, and the network research community.
Key Responsibilities1. Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify training opportunities and develop educational offerings based on organizational and departmental requirements.
2. Promote and facilitate performance improvement initiatives aligned with the goals and missions of Hackensack Meridian Health.
3. Integrate educational opportunities and develop ongoing education relevant to the coordination of research-related regulations and guidelines.
4. Support staff and provide education specific to the development, maintenance, and reporting of findings for clinical trials.
5. Train research staff in developing, applying, and maintaining research computerized provider order entry sets.
6. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational offerings, including ensuring knowledge and skills learned are applied on the job and have an impact on staff performance.
7. Participate in annual review and revision of staff orientation.
8. Coordinate comprehensive, unit-specific programs for research team members, inclusive of core competencies for staff in assigned areas.
9. Monitor completion of educational requirements and validation of skills, as necessary, and record appropriately.
10. Communicate progress and performance to manager, as appropriate.
11. Assist in an annual review of mandatory education and core competencies based on requirements of relevant agencies.
12. Document all educational events, inclusive of objectives, evaluations, and attendance, and develop metrics to track them.
13. Assist staff in planning and developing grand rounds and professional journal clubs, as requested.
14. Participate in the coordination of education programs generated by the HMH Research Institute and/or assigned department.
15. Collaborate with team members to enhance educational support in assigned areas.
16. Collaborate with team members in other areas to address research or clinically related educational needs and facilitate staff education.
17. Act as a mentor for students, interns, or other individuals, as applicable.
18. Evaluate, with input from preceptors, the performance of new staff.
19. Train and/or coordinate research team members on various clinical skills, including CPR, EKG administration, phlebotomy, and other areas.
20. Assist in drafting and disseminating research-related announcements, memos, and newsletter articles.
21. Assist in identifying and applying for educational grants, when applicable.
22. Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
23. Adhere to Hackensack Meridian Health Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
RequirementsEducation, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1. BSN Graduate of a NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing.
2. 3 years clinical research experience.
3. Adheres to the American Nurses Association standards.
4. Strong attention to detail and customer service focus is required.
5. Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
6. Ability to work independently, or in a team, and handle multiple deadline-driven tasks in a dynamic environment is essential.
7. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
8. Review and comply with all relevant Hackensack Meridian Health and Business Unit policies and procedures, and local, state, and Federal laws and regulations.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:
1. Education on human subject research and GCP (CITI Training and Certification).
2. Knowledge of clinical trials and the regulation (local, state, and federal) of such.
3. Familiarity with basic scientific and healthcare principles and terminology.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks and demands.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Current valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license.
2. BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association is required within 60 days of hire.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Certified Clinical Research Professional or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator.
