Position Overview:
The Insurance Accounting Professional will utilize their expertise to manage financial reporting and analysis within the insurance sector. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with both statutory and GAAP accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Compile financial data to document business transactions and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Understand and record earned, assumed, and ceded premiums on financial statements.
  • Calculate and submit quarterly Premium Tax to relevant state authorities.
  • Conduct statistical analyses to identify trends and variances, presenting findings to management.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations for cash and intercompany loan accounts, ensuring balance integrity.
  • Analyze financial data to prepare balance sheets and profit and loss statements, summarizing the company's financial position.
  • Audit contracts and transactions, preparing reports to validate individual entries.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles, monitoring financial transactions.
  • Investigate and rectify discrepancies in financial records.
  • Implement and modify accounting systems and controls to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and reports.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years of accounting experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience in the insurance industry is essential.
  • Experience with statutory accounting principles is necessary.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting is mandatory.
  • LOMA or similar insurance designations are advantageous.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required. Familiarity with accounting software and reporting tools is beneficial. The role is office-based, requiring effective data entry and computer system navigation skills.

Work Environment:
This position is performed in a standard office setting, with responsibilities that may involve repetitive tasks such as typing and data entry.
