Job Summary:
We are seeking highly skilled and reliable Forklift Operators/Dock Workers to join our team at Oak Harbor Freight Lines. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely loading and unloading trailers, managing paperwork, and ensuring the accuracy of shipments.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to load and unload trailers within specified timelines.
- Conduct thorough inspections of shipments to identify any exceptions or discrepancies.
- Manage paperwork, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, and trailer manifests, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Regroup shipments as needed to optimize logistics and minimize cargo claims.
- Meet the Company's reliability standard for employees by maintaining a high level of attendance and punctuality.
- Work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Basic English language proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal) is required.
- Simple arithmetic, weight, and/or measuring skills are necessary.
- A High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Previous warehouse or similar experience is highly desirable.
- Forklift experience is a significant advantage.
- Experience using tools, machines, and special equipment, such as hand trucks, four-wheel dock carts, pallet jacks, barrel trucks, dock plates, load locks, and/or rope, is preferred.
- Experience in an LTL operation is a plus.
