Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Boulder Housing Partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing payroll, HRIS, benefits, accounting, and related duties with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll, including bi-weekly payroll and reporting, with a focus on timeliness and accuracy.
- Serve as the administrator and subject matter expert for Paylocity, our payroll and HRIS system.
- Train and support new and existing staff on the system, ensuring seamless adoption and utilization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Interact with staff at all levels regarding time coding and payroll allocation, ensuring compliance with BHP policies and procedures.
- Process inputs to payroll, including new hires, terminations, time and attendance, benefits enrollments, and garnishments.
- Work closely with HR to ensure the accuracy of payroll documentation and employee status changes.
- Verify paid time off accruals, W2s, and year-end report data.
- Communicate with external partners and vendors on payroll- and benefit-related matters.
- Perform quarterly and annual review of payroll tax forms.
- Ensure compliance and accurate reporting for the Affordable Care Act.
- Provide support and analysis for HR related to payroll and benefits.
- Support the annual external audit process.
- Develop and implement new processes to align with changes in policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage merit increase budgets within the HRIS system.
- Maintain position control tracking for all BHP positions.
- Develop and provide monthly budget-to-actual reporting for personnel services across all BHP departments.
- High School diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience required, with a bachelor's degree, or a commensurate number of additional years of experience with lesser education.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of accrual accounting principles, including journal entry debits and credits.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex mathematical calculations using Excel and operate office equipment.
- High level of proficiency with Excel and basic proficiency with other Microsoft Office software.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
