Job Summary

The Family Centered Maternity Care Nurse (FCMC) Registered Nurse plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and leadership in the obstetrical unit. This professional nurse assesses patient health problems and resources, develops and implements individualized care plans, and provides technical nursing interventions to designated patient populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient health problems and resources, taking a leadership role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing plan of care.
  • Provide technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations, including labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum stages.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Meet the requirements for Perinatal RN Residency or recent experience in a Perinatal Setting, and maintain current certifications and competencies.
Requirements
  • Current Louisiana RN License
  • Current BLS Card
  • NRP Certification within 12 months of employment
  • ACLS within 12 months of employment
  • Newborn Assessment within one year of employment
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing workflow and communicating effectively with individuals of various education levels. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret medical terminology and understand human anatomy and physiology.
