Job Overview

Purpose of the Role

The primary aim is to assist clients in achieving a successful and positive recovery experience by ensuring they comprehend their responsibilities within the program and providing necessary guidance.

Key Responsibilities

The following tasks are typical for this role. These should not be interpreted as exhaustive or exclusive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Transport clients for various purposes including admissions, discharges, and medical appointments.

Note: This does not apply to individuals who are not eligible to drive.

  • Conduct orientation sessions for new clients and oversee the check-in of personal belongings, including luggage inspections.
  • Ensure client safety by monitoring their movements through regular rounds and overnight checks as outlined in the Program Abuse Prevention Plan.
  • Engage with clients whenever feasible.
  • Participate in shift change reports and departmental meetings.
  • Assist in the admissions and discharge processes.
  • Document interactions with clients and observations in their records using an electronic charting system.
  • Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
  • May collaborate with the Clinical and Nursing teams.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications Necessary for Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • If eligible to drive, must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Capability to drive a vehicle for extended periods, up to three hours continuously.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing at least 25 pounds.
  • Current CPR and first aid certification.
  • Ongoing training in cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse cultural norms and values.
  • Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

· Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of interacting with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.

· Adaptability to accommodate a variety of changing priorities.

· Strong interpersonal communication abilities.

· Previous experience in a residential treatment center is beneficial but not mandatory.

Physical Demands

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

· Standing for up to 8 hours daily.

· Climbing stairs for up to 20% of the time in most facilities.

· Driving cars and 15-passenger vans for an average of 2-4 hours daily, potentially up to 8 hours.

· Sitting for varying durations, approximately 2 hours.

· Reaching for about 2 hours daily unless driving.

· Bending and squatting for approximately 10% of the time.

· Walking for up to 8 hours daily.
