Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Respiratory Unit team at Memorial Healthcare System. As a Vascular Access Nurse, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based vascular access care to patients, including IV access, PICC line placement and insertion, and blood draws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides vascular access care to patients, including IV access, PICC line placement and insertion, and blood draws
  • Supports the nursing units and collaborates with the RNs, medical staff, and educates patients and their family members on the procedure
  • De-clots VADs or assists staff as a resource in de-clotting
  • Completes the hand off process at shift change, provides patient information, communicates pending IVs, PICC line insertions, and dressing changes
  • Communicates patient's progress, critical findings, and changes in the patients' condition with the physician or disciplines involved regarding IV therapy complications and procedure
  • Provides vascular access nursing care, including peripheral intravenous (IV), peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line insertion, placement, monitoring, and dressing changes
  • Troubleshoots difficult complications of VADs or assists staff in troubleshooting
  • Works with staff nurses, physicians, case managers, and other team members to ensure early assessment for VAD selection and implementation
  • Assembles medical equipment and supplies for procedure and restocks supplies
  • Places difficult peripheral IVs with or without ultrasound as needed
  • Performs reassessments as per policy, when there is a change in the plan of care or when an intervention is performed
  • Provides staff education on care and management and complication management
Requirements
  • Associates: Nursing (Required)
  • ACLS Certification (non-eCard) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Cert American Heart (non-eCard) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • NRP Certification (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • PALS American Heart (non-eCard) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Work Environment

This role requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The work environment includes exposure to biological hazards, cytotoxic chemicals, hazardous chemicals, computer monitors, domestic animals, fire risk, magnetic fields, moving mechanical parts, and shift work.
