Palo Alto, California, United States ArrayLabs, LLC Full time

Array Labs, LLC is at the forefront of developing a distributed radar imaging constellation aimed at creating the first precise, real-time 3D representation of our planet.

The Spacecraft Bus Team at Array Labs is responsible for the comprehensive design, analysis, manufacturing, and integration of both mechanical and electrical systems within our satellites, ensuring they meet high standards of durability and performance. We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Systems Engineer with a strong background in avionics and spacecraft electrical systems, who is enthusiastic about advancing the future of distributed satellite technology.

Your role will involve diagnosing electronic assemblies, establishing new procedures, designing circuits, fixtures, and tools, as well as pinpointing areas for enhancement in both products and processes.

To create these advanced spacecraft systems, a profound technical knowledge of spacecraft avionics and electrical systems, along with a solid grasp of simulation methodologies, is essential. You will be accountable for maintaining the integrity and functionality of these critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and validate avionics and electrical models for spacecraft systems in collaboration with other members of the Spacecraft Bus team.
  • Lead the requirements gathering, component selection, schematic design, and PCB layout to swiftly prototype various avionics modules.
  • Assess third-party avionics modules and components using custom or commercial evaluation boards.
  • Design bespoke electronic systems from the ground up and perform simulations to confirm your designs.
  • Construct, fabricate, and evaluate the avionics system on flight hardware at both the subsystem and fully integrated levels.
  • Design and incorporate flight software into embedded systems.
  • Work alongside the Formation Flight Team to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Quickly troubleshoot and resolve avionics and electrical-related challenges.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Over 11 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in avionics, safety-critical robotics, automotive, or a similar field.
  • Proficient in relevant software tools for avionics and electrical modeling (ECAD tools for PCB Design).
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Ability to learn new concepts rapidly and independently.
  • High levels of self-motivation and accountability.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the design, integration, and testing of complex avionics and flight-control systems.
  • Technical expertise in avionics and electrical modeling techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience in designing spacecraft avionics and electrical subsystems.
  • Familiarity with advanced avionics and electrical modeling software (e.g., Altium, Circuit Maker).
  • Prior experience working with spacecraft electrical systems.
ITAR Compliance:
  • To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Equal Opportunity Employer:
  • Array Labs is committed to equal employment opportunities.
