Senior Estimator Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at The Haskell Company. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate and detailed construction cost estimates, leading and training estimating personnel, and following preconstruction standards and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and detailed construction cost estimates at progressive design stages
  • Develop associated scope of work clarifications
  • Identify risk items and associated order of magnitude
  • Assist with preconstruction resource management
  • Assist with the development and utilization of preconstruction processes, standards, and tools
  • Assist the pricing lead and participate in estimate review meetings
  • Contribute to cost savings exercises
  • Assist with the development of bid packages
  • Assist with project construction budget
  • Assist with preconstruction-operations turnover meetings
  • Assist with subcontractor and vendor relationships
  • Assist with project procurement and buyout
  • Collaborate with preconstruction leadership
  • Collaborate with designers and clients
  • Collaborate and assist the project operations team
  • Follow project construction costs and market trends
  • Participate in preconstruction software development, maintenance, and historical costs
  • Travel as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent, and 5 years of estimating experience preferred or 15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
  • Demonstrated estimating experience for cast-in-place concrete
  • Self-perform experience
  • Design-build and CMAR project delivery method experience
  • Revit/Navisworks, 3D model experience a plus
  • Strong subcontractor and vendor relationships
  • Ability to forecast design and materials at a conceptual level
  • Ability to develop a detailed estimate at a conceptual level with minimal design
  • Strong understanding of material specifications to make informed recommendations
  • Experience within water/wastewater and industrial markets, with bonus experience in manufacturing, consumer product goods, or food and beverage
  • Estimating software experience required, Beck Destini Estimator preferred
