Job Summary

The Dental Assistant is a vital member of our dental team, responsible for preparing patients for appointments, checking in and out patients, and scheduling appointments and reappointments. This is a full-time (40-hour) position with a competitive hourly rate of $18-21/hour, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, clean, and set up operatories for patient appointments
  • Take and mount dental radiographs (x-rays)
  • Prepare sterile instruments and equipment
  • Prepare patients for their appointment and discharge as needed
  • Ask about patient medical history
  • Take blood pressure and pulse
  • Perform dental assistant duties per provider workflow and practice
  • Provide and assist with patient discharge
  • Provide patients with instruction for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedure
  • Register patients for appointment, if necessary
  • Assist with documentation for accurate billing and charting

Requirements

  • Active Dental Assisting Certificate in the state of Iowa
  • Iowa Radiology Certification, or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
  • Sterilization Certification a plus
  • Previous training and experience in dental assisting preferred
