JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for executing a range of cleaning responsibilities to uphold the cleanliness of patient areas, administrative offices, corridors, and other designated spaces.

Engages in special projects and various environmental services tasks to ensure the facility remains in a tidy, organized, and hygienic state.

Adheres to protocols for the age
demographics served, as outlined in the department's operational scope.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors at all times.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Sanitizes patient rooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and other areas in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensures cleanliness of spaces and specific items to minimize cross-contamination.
  • Cleans designated areas by washing walls, furniture, tiles, fixtures, equipment, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Disposes of trash and waste from assigned locations and replenishes all relevant dispensers following established departmental and infection control protocols.
  • Alerts supervisor immediately regarding low supply levels and equipment issues.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and maintains areas in a secure condition.
2. Takes responsibility for floor maintenance by sweeping, mopping, and applying floor finishes and polishing as necessary.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Conducts sweeping and mopping of floor areas, vacuums carpets, and spot-cleans carpets using suitable solutions.
  • Operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, for floor and carpet maintenance.
3. Exhibits sound judgment in organizing work tasks.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Completes all assigned tasks during the shift without compromising quality.
  • Keeps work area organized and tidy at all times.
  • Continuously seeks to optimize time management during the shift through effective coordination of daily responsibilities.
  • Completes outstanding tasks from previous shifts and communicates any incomplete assignments to ensure procedural continuity.
4. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of sanitation practices, disinfectant usage, safety standards, and the proper operation of cleaning equipment.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Effectively operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical.
  • Disposes of materials in accordance with established policy guidelines.
  • Follows established isolation and asepsis techniques as per departmental procedures.
  • Strictly adheres to infection control regulations.
  • Utilizes supplies and equipment according to standards and within manufacturers' guidelines.
5. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Prior experience in housekeeping is preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma is preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS, LICENSES, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Ability to comprehend and execute instructions.
Ability to identify and follow directions for chemicals used in job performance.
Reliable and self-motivated to fulfill responsibilities without constant oversight.
