Job Overview

The adjunct faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to their assigned courses. Key duties include course development, grading, student feedback, and faculty collaboration. Instructors will be assigned specific courses and will teach according to the school schedule.

Compensation Range: $35.00 per hour

Hours: Up to 15 hours per week

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all applicable policies set forth by the College, including the Employee Code of Conduct, principles of Academic Freedom, and Instructor Responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Deliver course material in accordance with the syllabi and plan instruction at least once per week.
  • Contribute to the growth of the program by providing input and, in some cases, creating curriculum within the area of specialization.
  • Assess student mastery of course material and provide feedback and guidance as needed.
  • Enforce established attendance policies and maintain accurate records of student grades.
  • Be available for office hours in person or via video conference during a consistent time period each week.
  • Respond to communication from students and colleagues within 48 business hours.
Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in an applicable field
  • At least five (5) years of verifiable experience in an applicable field
  • Alignment with and commitment to teach in accordance with the Core Values and Faith Statement of Bethel College
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as an instructor or teaching assistant in an applicable field
  • Experience writing curriculum and syllabi
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Previous experience with a focus on customer service, counseling, mentoring, and/or pastoral care
