Job Summary:
The On Call Optometrist is a key member of our eye care team, responsible for examining patients with a range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment. This role involves prescribing and fitting contact lenses, determining visual requirements of partially sighted individuals, and using diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect ocular pathology.

Essential Responsibilities:
Examine patients with a full range of visual problems using optometry instruments and techniques.
Diagnose visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies and prescribe treatment according to state laws.
Prescribe and fit contact lenses and low-vision aids.
Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology.
Refer patients to other appropriate providers for further evaluation and treatment.
Participate in departmental meetings and educational activities.
Consult with other healthcare professionals on patient care issues.
Assist in implementing eye care education programs for medical center staff and patients.

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience or successful completion of accredited optometry residency program.
Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
Licensed Optometrist in the state where care is provided and National Provider Identifier.
Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment or successful completion of accredited residency program.
Accredited residency in Optometry preferred.
