Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Oversee the maintenance operations of the branch in a safe and efficient manner.
Manage and coordinate the efforts of team members involved in the servicing and repair of equipment and vehicles, while providing hands-on support to ensure the timely completion of daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise all personnel within the maintenance division by planning and directing their work.
- Perform necessary repairs on vehicles and equipment, ensuring follow-up on all maintenance tasks completed by the team.
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance strategy to guarantee that all equipment remains in safe and operational condition by scheduling and overseeing all maintenance activities.
- Maintain comprehensive records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, and safety as mandated by regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with GFL Environmental's safety standards across all operations.
- Oversee the efficient operation of the Safety Lane.
- Collaborate with Operations Management to coordinate the release of equipment for necessary inspections and repairs.
- Organize and lead safety meetings, documenting attendance and topics discussed to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage inventory effectively, authorizing purchases of supplies, tools, and parts as needed.
- Maintain the upkeep and appearance of the maintenance facility and surrounding grounds.
- Monitor fuel usage, order fuel as required, and compile monthly fuel reports for management review.
- Track expenses across various product lines and review work orders daily.
- Conduct inventory queries and manage adjustments as necessary.
- Submit all required reports to the Area Controller on a monthly basis.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of service vehicles and the shop environment.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and train maintenance staff.
- Evaluate employee performance and administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
Coordinate safety meetings as needed.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of DOT certification for air brake inspection and adjustment, as well as certification for Annual Vehicle Inspections.
- Must obtain a Class B Certified Driver's License (CDL) within six months of hire.
- Prior supervisory experience in a maintenance or shop environment is preferred.
- A full set of hand tools is required.
- Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspections, and vehicle inspections is essential.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, TMW, I-Pak, and JDEdwards.
- Familiarity with G/L codes for parts and labor assignment.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as communicate effectively with others.
- Capable of performing mathematical calculations involving discounts, proportions, and percentages.
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of the budgetary process.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
- Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds manually.
Working Conditions:
Noise levels may range from moderate to loud, with frequent exposure to high noise levels, humidity, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and various chemicals.
Occasional work may be required in high or precarious places.
