Job Overview

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and delivering high-quality educational instruction to diverse learners, including students with special needs. This will involve creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic success, physical fitness, and life skills for global citizenship.

Essential Duties
  1. Teaching and Curriculum Development: Teach grade-relevant, subject-matter-specific, and mandated curriculum to students in a way that is engaging, interactive, and tailored to their individual needs.
  2. Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through in-person and virtual learning to fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with district personnel, students, and parents through phone, email, or video conferencing to confer on various matters related to student progress and well-being.
  4. Classroom Environment and Management: Create a conducive in-person and virtual classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  5. Assessment and Reporting: Assess, document, and prepare reports on student progress, including achievement progress, grade and classroom performance, assessments, and attendance.
  6. Supervision and Student Behavior: Supervise and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  7. Professional Development and Conference Participation: Participate in student development and achievement-related conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, principal, and/or administrators, as required by the supervisor.
  8. General Instructional Duties: Perform general instructional duties such as ordering materials, attending required meetings, and attending professional learning sessions/training.
  9. Paraprofessional or Instructional Aide Direction: Direct the work of the Paraprofessional or Instructional Aide, as needed.
  10. Attendance and Punctuality: Maintain prompt and regular work attendance.
Special Education Requirements
  1. Identifying Educational Needs: Identify educational needs and provide instruction to students with varying exceptionalities.
  2. Instructing Students: Instruct students based on needs as outlined in the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); assess, monitor, and report student progress and communicate with families as directed by state and federal guidance.
  3. Case Management: Serve as the case manager for students with disabilities, including preparing and maintaining relevant paperwork, scheduling, and facilitating IEP meetings.
  4. Professional Code of Ethics: Follow the Georgia professional code of educator ethics in all work-related activities.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree: Hold a Bachelor's degree from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field.
  2. Teaching Certificate: Possess a valid Professional Standards Commission-approved teaching certificate in the appropriate educational field.
  3. Special Education Certification: For Special Education teachers who issue grades, hold appropriate certification in service (e.g., Special Education, Adaptive curriculum, and/or Special Education General Curriculum).
  4. ESOL & Gifted Certification: For ESOL and Gifted teachers, hold valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved subject-specific endorsements.
  5. CTAE Specializations: For Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) teachers, meet minimum education requirements based on CTAE Specializations, pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment, and have minimum two years of verifiable industrial work experience with industry licensure.

The estimated salary for this position is $54,000 - $84,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
