The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for conducting a variety of diagnostic tests within the laboratory environment, encompassing areas such as Blood Banking and Microbiology. This role is crucial for ensuring precise and prompt test outcomes, which involves adhering to quality assurance protocols, engaging in continuous improvement initiatives, participating in proficiency assessments, and performing routine maintenance on laboratory instruments. The specialist is trained to identify abnormal critical test results and is expected to follow established procedures for communicating these findings to the healthcare team. Additionally, this position includes administrative tasks, general laboratory support, and phlebotomy responsibilities essential for the smooth operation of the laboratory. The specialist will also manage the distribution of blood products as per the requests from the medical personnel.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited program in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Certification as MLT(ASCP)/(AMT), CLT (NCA) or eligibility for certification.
- Submission of diploma or transcript along with required certification/license or eligibility at the time of employment.
- State licensure as mandated.
- Obtaining registration as MLT(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) or CLT(AMT) or equivalent within 60 days of employment commencement.
