Job Overview

Position Summary

  • Responsible for safeguarding, monitoring, and patrolling designated areas to deter theft, violence, and policy violations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulates and monitors the entry and exit of personnel, guests, and other individuals to prevent theft and ensure the safety of the location.
  • Utilizes company-issued mobile devices to document daily activities and report any irregularities, including property damage, theft, unauthorized individuals, or unusual incidents.
  • Contacts emergency services in urgent situations, such as fires or unauthorized access.
  • Responds to alarms and investigates any disturbances.
  • Engages with visitors, patrons, or staff to maintain order and protect assets.
  • Conducts regular patrols to identify and prevent signs of unauthorized access and to secure doors, windows, and gates.
  • Employs detection equipment to screen individuals and prevent the entry of prohibited items into restricted zones.
  • Issues warnings for rule violations and notifies appropriate authorities if compliance is not achieved.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet).
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, ramps, or ladders during shifts.
  • Ability to bend or twist at the waist, knees, or neck to perform various tasks.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to run when necessary.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching, handling, and grasping while performing administrative tasks.
  • Constant visual engagement (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with the public and colleagues, and monitor security feeds; includes hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat.
  • Requires constant mental alertness and attention to detail while prioritizing and following up on tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid security guard license from the state.
  • Effective written, customer service, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills across all levels of personnel and the public in a professional manner; ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all operational procedures and instructions.
  • As a condition of employment, successful completion of a background investigation is required.
  • Must maintain current active status of all required licenses at all times and carry the license while on duty.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and effectively handle crisis situations at client sites.
  • Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client-specific locations.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and clearly communicate in English; constant use of speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) is necessary for effective communication with the public and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage the pressures of working with a high volume of the general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment).
