Position Overview: This role is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and managing the activities of warehouse and delivery personnel for The Chefs' Warehouse. This includes scheduling staff, ensuring timely customer deliveries, and adhering to all relevant transportation regulations at both state and federal levels. Responsibilities may be carried out directly or through subordinate team leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of warehouse and delivery staff, including route and vehicle assignments, customer deliveries, and vendor pickups.
- Ensure adherence to all USDOT regulations and other relevant compliance requirements regarding vehicle usage, maintenance, and safe driving practices.
- Provide training to warehouse and delivery personnel to meet required standards and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Maintain driver files as mandated by USDOT regulations.
- Update and manage work schedules for warehouse and delivery staff.
- Ensure that all vehicles are maintained to meet cleanliness and operational standards.
- Report any service issues to the leasing company.
- Address and resolve customer complaints, coordinating with sales personnel as necessary to implement corrective actions.
- Train staff in all aspects of material handling, both on and off the vehicle.
- Continuously evaluate employee performance, including regular road tests, and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
- Conduct thorough accident investigations and manage insurance reporting in collaboration with the Operations Manager and other relevant parties.
- Monitor dispatch logs and vehicle tracking systems to ensure compliance with schedules, while overseeing the preparation and retention of operational records.
- Maintain accurate mileage records for tax and leasing purposes.
- Develop proficiency in the primary sales processing software and related systems used by the company.
- Drive delivery routes during peak periods as required to fulfill operational obligations.
- Facilitate weekly meetings to communicate new procedures and company updates, collaborating with Operations, Product, Purchasing, and Sales teams to ensure information is accurate and comprehensive.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in logistics or transportation management.
