Job Summary:

The Design and Construction Department at Georgia State University is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will provide technical expertise in mechanical matters, plumbing, and fire protection to the University. This includes reviewing engineering proposals, design drawings, written specifications, and shop drawings submitted by consultants and contractors. You will also oversee the construction of assigned mechanical and construction projects, assist contractors, and prepare and manage architectural, engineering, and construction administration contract agreements between the University and design professionals and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise in mechanical matters, plumbing, and fire protection to the University.
  • Review engineering proposals, design drawings, written specifications, and shop drawings submitted by consultants and contractors.
  • Oversee the construction of assigned mechanical and construction projects.
  • Assist contractors and prepare and manage architectural, engineering, and construction administration contract agreements between the University and design professionals and contractors.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical Engineering Technology and four years of related experience or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience in HVAC/Plumbing system design.
  • Familiarity with OSHA building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection codes.
  • Familiarity with construction industry standards of practice and various codes enforced for construction and good engineering practice.
  • Professional Engineer license.
